David's Chin Implant and Rhinoplasty Experience
Many of you have been are probably aware of the recent rhinoplasty + chin implant I received from Dr D (I am as of today) 8 days post op.
I live in St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands so for me to have the operation was going to require that I travel a great distance (either the east or west coast; or somewhere in the middle).
After reviewing the copious amounts of materials available to me on this website I contacted the offices of 8 different MD's (all the usual names; Daniel, Toriumi, Gunter, Pastorek (called his office), Russel Kridel, Terino and of course Dr Denenberg + one other.
Because of the distance I was going to have to travel (I wasn't willing to (or able ) to fly all over the country interviewing surgeons so it was up to me to email (or send) photos and then discuss my condition with each doctor and make the most educated decision I could.
As the months rolled by I found myself having in depth discussions about my condition with one MD. Dr. Denenberg. He altered images, answered questions and of course I watched this website to see if there were others that were HAPPY with his work.
His office of course gave me names of individuals that were satisfied patients of his but I don't necessarily TRUST that. No docs office will give you the names of persons that are suing them or are unhappy.
But of course I called and they were happy and I watched people on this site that had used him and they were happy and I liked Dr Denenbergs communication. So I then decided that if he would ALWAYS reply to my emails then I think that if I were alone there in Omaha, or in St Thomas status post surgery I don't think he would ever leave me in a lurch.
So I decided to take the plunge. I didn't want to wait anymore because I knew if I didn't do it then I would wake up one day regretting that I never did it. I don't want to live my life with regrets but there are many people on this board that regret having the surgery to begin with so I wanted to make sure that I was making the right decision for me.
So with that I nervously booked my surgery date and left it in the hands of God. I flew out there never having met him in person; just accepting the fact that this would be part of the deal since I live so far away. I have always believed that I am a good judge of an individuals character and so I would trust my instincts with this one as well.
The day before my scheduled surgery, I met with him, he examined me carefully, and I explained to him which imaging I liked, didn't like etc. Told him what was important to me, he put me infront of a mirror, pointed out all of my imperfections; what he would do and that was it. Took some photos and then it was the night before.
He is very conscious of wanting his patients to have a good nights sleep before so he prescribes his patients some valium to help relax you and take the edge off so you are not up the whole night before going crazy with worry.
I did all of my last minute stuff, took my valium and went to bed. Slept pretty good that night (all things considered), went in and they put me in the operating chair.
Once they gave me the versed that was it. I was out cold. Dr Denenberg performed a rhinoplasty + chin implant.
I awoke and don't remember much for the next two days afterward although I was out driving around etc the day following surgery (and FEELING very sick at times).
The four days after the surgery (the surgery took 4 hours) were definitely rough. Dr Denenberg told me that this surgery would probably take longer than what other surgeons had told me it would take them but he explained to me that he is MUCH SLOWER than most other docs (its very METICULOUS surgery if you want a good outcome) and that is why he almost NEVER schedules more than one rhinoplasty a day. He is a perfectionist (WHICH IS WHAT YOU WANT FOR THIS TYPE OF SURGERY) and TAKES his time.
I had my unveiling on Tuesday (June 29th) and although I am still VERY swollen I am SO HAPPY that I did this. I can see the work that he did and I am ECSTATIC!!!
I only wish that all who had this surgery could experience the elation and joy I feel right now. I know that as swollen as I am it will take a good while to see the final result but if what I see now is ANY INDICATION of what it will be I couldn't be happier.
So now it is time + patience and allowing the body to heal.
Dr Denenberg treats his patients with respect, he is an ABSOLUTE PERFECTIONIST and a great surgeon to boot. I have this board to thank for if it wasn't for this message center I would have NEVER FOUND him.
Of course the man isn't perfect but I think you will be HARD PRESSED to find a BETTER rhinoplasty surgeon in this country or any other.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Warm regards and thanks to all.
